Straight answers about playing, scoring, rewards and gifts, accounts, Premium, community modes, payments, privacy, and support.
What is GuessTheCards?
GuessTheCards is a fan-made Magic card-art guessing game. A card's artwork is revealed through progressive crops; identify the card as early as you can to score more. You can play solo, compete in Arena modes, and play challenges made by the community.
Is GuessTheCards official Magic content?
No. GuessTheCards is unofficial Fan Content and is not endorsed by or affiliated with Wizards of the Coast. Card data and images are provided by .
Do I need an account to try the game?
You can use the public warm-up experience without an account. Scored games, saved progress, rewards, community features, and multiplayer features require a free account so results can be recorded safely.
Does the game require a download?
No. GuessTheCards runs in a modern web browser. For the best experience, use an up-to-date version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge with JavaScript and cookies enabled for this site.
Which card languages are supported?
You can choose an interface language and a preferred card language separately. When a printing is available in your selected card language, the revealed card name and printing use that Scryfall language; otherwise a supported fallback may be shown.
How does a normal game work?
Choose a difficulty, start the run, and identify each card from up to four art hints. Enter a card name or choose a suggestion. The result screen records your verified score, correct answers, rewards, and leaderboard position when applicable.
Why are there four hints?
Each hint reveals a broader or more recognizable view of the art. Guessing from an earlier hint is harder and can be worth more; waiting gives you more visual information but less scoring upside.
How is my score calculated?
Score is based on the authoritative game rules for that mode, including whether the answer is correct, how early you identify the card, timing, and the selected difficulty. The verified result shown at the end is the official result.
What do Easy, Normal, and Hard change?
Difficulty changes the eligible card pool and the scoring multiplier. Easy is friendlier for recognition, Normal is the standard experience, and Hard draws from a more demanding pool with higher scoring potential.
What is Endless mode?
Endless continues card by card until you use all allowed strikes. The goal is to extend the run and improve your verified personal best.
How are alternate names, punctuation, and small typos handled?
The answer matcher normalizes common differences and can accept sufficiently close answers. Use the card-name suggestions when possible. Distinct cards with similar names still need enough information to identify the intended card.
Why did my answer not count?
The answer may have referred to a different card, been too far from the recognized card name, arrived after the timer, or failed to submit. Check the revealed answer and connection, then contact support with the mode and approximate time if the result still looks wrong.
What happens if I refresh or lose connection during a run?
Return to the same game route as soon as possible. GuessTheCards keeps the authoritative state for supported runs, but elapsed timers and mode-specific disconnect rules still apply. Do not repeatedly submit answers while the connection is unstable.
Can I reveal a hint early?
Some game modes let you spend a Gem to unlock the next hint early. The game shows the cost before you confirm. Availability and cost are controlled by the current mode settings.
Can I save a card I discover?
Yes, supported result and community-game screens let signed-in players save cards. Your saved-card list is available from the account menu.
What is Energy?
Energy is a play resource used to enter supported game modes. It regenerates automatically up to your account's current cap. The entry screen shows the exact Energy cost before a run starts.
What are Coins and Gems?
Coins and Gems are in-game resources recorded in your wallet. Coins can be used for eligible shop or entry items; Gems can unlock eligible features such as an early hint. The relevant screen always shows the current cost.
How do daily rewards work?
Open Rewards to see whether a daily grant is ready, then claim it while signed in. Grant amounts, caps, and eligibility may change, and each successful grant is recorded in your reward history.
What are gifts and surprise rewards?
A gift icon can represent a reward delivered to your account. Depending on the event or promotion, rewards may include Coins, Gems, Energy, access time, cosmetic items, or an eligible coupon. The confirmation and reward ledger show exactly what was granted.
Can I send my Coins, Gems, or gifts to another player?
Not unless a specific transfer or gifting feature explicitly says you can. Wallet resources and account grants normally stay with the receiving account. Never share account credentials to move a reward.
How do redemption or promotional codes work?
Enter a valid code in the redemption area while signed in. Codes can have usage limits, dates, or eligibility requirements and may only be redeemed once per account. Do not post private or single-use codes publicly.
Where can I verify a reward?
Open Rewards and review the reward history. It records grants and the balance after each supported wallet event. If a purchase or prize is missing, contact support with the date, item, and any receipt or tournament reference.
Do in-game resources have cash value?
No. Unless a specific offer expressly says otherwise, virtual resources are licensed for use inside GuessTheCards, cannot be redeemed for cash, and are not a bank balance or investment.
How do I create an account?
Choose Create a free account, provide the requested details, and complete any profile steps shown. Use a unique password and an email address you can access.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Use the password-reset link on the sign-in page. If an account matches the submitted address and mail delivery is available, follow the time-limited link. Support will never ask you to send your password.
Can I change my display name, language, or avatar?
Supported profile and preference options are available in Settings or Profile. Some identity fields may have validation or change limits to reduce impersonation and abuse.
Why is my account restricted?
Restrictions can result from a required password change, payment issue, safety action, spam protection, or a rule violation. Follow the notice shown in the app. If it is unclear, contact support from the email associated with the account.
How do I delete my account or request my data?
Use any account-lifecycle option available in Settings or send a privacy request through Contact us. We may need to verify account ownership before completing access, correction, export, or deletion requests.
What are Community Challenges?
Community Challenges contain card sets created and published by players. You can browse, play, rate, favorite, and—where enabled—comment on public challenges.
How do I create Community Challenges?
Open the creator area, choose eligible cards and settings, review the set, and publish it. Published challenges may become immutable so all players compete against the same version; the creator flow explains this before publication.
How do reports and moderation work?
Use the report control for content or behavior that breaks the rules. Reports go to the moderation tools. Do not use reports to harass creators or to dispute an ordinary score.
What is Arena?
Arena groups competitive modes: public matchmaking, challenge rooms with friends, and scheduled tournaments. Each mode shows its player count, cost, readiness, and rules before the match begins.
How does public matchmaking work?
Join the queue and keep the page active while a table forms. When enough eligible players are ready, the shared match starts. Leaving, timing out, or becoming ineligible can release your queue seat.
How do Daily tournaments work?
Join the queue for the scheduled event, choose an available entry option, and return before launch. Players receive the same sealed card sequence. Final standings use the published scoring and tie-break order, and rewards are delivered after settlement.
How are tournament ties broken?
The current tournament rules prioritize score, then correct answers, cumulative correct-answer time, completion time, and a consistent final ordering value. The Arena rules panel is the source of truth for the active event.
Why did I miss a tournament start?
A seat can be excluded if it was inactive at launch, the account became unavailable, the chosen entry could not be paid, Premium expired, or the wallet was unavailable. The tournament screen shows the recorded reason and whether anything was charged.
What does Premium include?
Premium can provide a higher Energy cap and faster regeneration, expanded daily Gem capacity, private rooms or unlisted challenges, tournament benefits, and a Premium identity badge. Review the Premium page for the currently offered benefits.
How much does Premium cost?
Pricing, currency, taxes, billing period, and any promotion are shown at checkout. The checkout summary is authoritative because offers and regional presentation can change.
How do I cancel or reactivate a subscription?
Open the subscription area in your account. Supported billing providers offer cancel and reactivate controls there. Cancellation normally stops the next renewal while access continues through the paid period shown.
What should I do about a duplicate, failed, or missing payment?
Do not submit repeated payments while the result is uncertain. Check your order or subscription status, then contact support with the provider, approximate time, amount, and receipt reference. Never send a full card number or password.
Can I request a refund?
Send the request through Contact us with the receipt reference and reason. Eligibility depends on the purchase, delivery status, billing provider, applicable law, and the Terms. Do not include full payment credentials.
The site is not loading correctly. What should I try?
Refresh once, confirm your connection, disable page-altering extensions for this site, and try a current browser. If the issue persists, include the page, device, browser version, time, and the exact error in a support request.
Why are card images missing?
An image can be temporarily unavailable because of connection, browser privacy settings, a cached error, or the upstream card image source. Reload the page and check that images from Scryfall are not blocked.
How do I contact support without signing in?
Open , provide a reachable email address, complete the anti-spam question, and submit the form. It creates a ticket in the same staff queue used by signed-in support.
How do signed-in support requests work?
Open Support from the account menu. You can create a private request, read staff replies, and keep the conversation together. Staff receive it in the central support queue.
What should I include in a useful bug report?
Include one issue per ticket, steps to reproduce it, what you expected, what happened, the route or mode, approximate time and timezone, device/browser, and any safe screenshot. Never include passwords, authentication tokens, or full payment details.
How quickly will support reply?
Response time depends on volume and urgency. Sending duplicate tickets can slow review. Keep your ticket reference and use the signed-in conversation when available.
